CURRENT PROJECTS

Project Advisor/Senior Negotiator - Cross Lake Band of Indians, Aboriginal Health Transition Fund Project (2007-current)

This project is developing an innovative community-based health care system (programs & services, governing structures and capital plans) that will improve access to primary and select secondary health care services for their First Nation citizens, as well as the adjacent Métis and non-Aboriginal community members.  Cross Lake is a large First Nation community, with approximately 7000 residents, operating the largest Nursing Station in Canada, which has become an outdated service delivery model.  The community is in urgent need of comprehensive services and this project is focussed on redesigning the health care system which includes; program and services, governing structures and capital development of a new 86,000 square foot health care complex.

Project Advisor - Misipawistik Cree Nation (MCN) Minoayawin Initiative (2007-current)

In collaboration with their Community partners and health funding agencies, the MCN has facilitated a community health planning process to create an innovative and needs-based primary health care model.  This new model will be locally controlled, improve health service coordination, provide appropriate access to primary health care services and offer comprehensive community-based health programming. All community-based health care services will be centrally located on Misipawistik Cree Nation to meet the health needs of our Cree Nation, Métis and non-Aboriginal community members.     In addition, realization of this innovative primary health care model will be informed by evidence-based approaches and built upon three foundations; program and service infrastructures, corporate and operational infrastructures and physical infrastructures.
